Junk Journal Meet-Up - Class #2 - A Journal Technique Class with Shelley

This time, we’ll start by creating some collage material of our own. We’ll experiment with four different techniques on a couple of different substrates, working in black and white to start.
Then we’ll assemble a small junk journal With a sewn binding, and use some of our fresh imagery to get the layering started. You’ll take home the small journal (which will fit inside the pocket of your art journal if you’ve taken that class already), along with a bunch of extra collage goodness to build your stash. There will be lots of opportunity to work in this sidekick journal alongside your larger art journal as we go along - so please don’t expect to take home a finished work of art today. This class is to get you started and inspired!
Please bring:
- 2-3 favourite stencils
- 2oz of white acrylic paint
- 2oz of black acrylic paint
- sponge - a makeup sponge or a piece of kitchen sponge, whatever you have is fine. I use a wedge cut out of one of those fake yellow round sponges
- one or two used envelopes - if it has a window and/or a stamp, or is hand-addressed, so much the better. We’re looking for visual interest
- one or two sheets of scrapbook paper
- glue stick
- matte medium - fluid
- ¼” or similar sookwang tape
- paintbrush - ½” flat; and a water brush if you’re feeling fancy
- 3-4 of your favourite stamps or sets
- black staz-on ink pad
- 1-2 of your favourite washi tapes
- 3-4 paper clips (fancy if you have them, plain if you don’t)
- tiny attacher if you have one
- Flo-line precision bottle
- stabilo marks-all pencil in black
*When you’re picking your favourite items to bring, please keep in mind that these will all be used in one book, so think about a cohesive look.
